A modern "classic"

Geary's volume is my standard go-to source reader for medieval classes. The sources chosen lend themselves to a number of great pairings and cover a wide variety of key themes within the medieval period. Covering both the Early, High, and Late periods, the collection is useful for most regions and touch on the growth of the state, the institutional church, law, high culture, and more. I'm not sure if I sat down and came up with my "ideal source reader" that I would have something that much different than this volume.

This edition contains a plethora of readings from various sources of the Middle Ages. It can be great resource for teachers and professors of history. It also can be a great source for history fans.
